Norway has supplied Ukraine with protective equipment against possible nuclear threats and radioactive materials, including gas masks and protective coveralls.
The Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority under the Ministry of Health and Welfare said.
“Norway recently supplied 350 sets of protective suits, coveralls, gas masks, gloves and shoe covers. The project is funded by the government’s nuclear energy action plan, which has contributed to strengthening nuclear safety in Ukraine for several years,” the office said.
It is noted that the project is implemented by Nordic Security.
The department believes that such equipment will allow border guards in Ukraine to better protect themselves against possible attempts to smuggle radioactive sources.
In February 2023, the head of the international nuclear safety department of the Norwegian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA), Ingar Amundsen, said that Norwegian specialists were not involved in the preparation of a provocation with radiation near Kiev.
