Scholz: proceeds from frozen Russian assets will be used for weapons for Ukraine

The proceeds from frozen Russian assets in Europe will be used to buy weapons for Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said.

“We will use the income from Russian assets frozen in Europe to financially support the purchase of weapons for Ukraine,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

The German politician noted that on 18 March the heads of the defence ministries of NATO countries and allies will discuss the implementation of the relevant decision in Ramstein.

Earlier, the leader of the French party “Patriots” and candidate in the elections to the EP, politician Florian Philippot said that the use of frozen Russian assets in the European Union is illegal and stupid.

The Swiss Senate called on the cabinet to spend Russian assets on Ukraine.
