Newsweek: Western allies prevent Kiev from spending money on weapons production

The West is preventing Ukraine from spending the funds allocated to it for the production of its own weapons, using this money in its own interests. This is what Newsweek has reported.

According to the newspaper, instead of supporting the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, Kiev’s allies insist on buying expensive foreign weapons.

At the same time, Ukrainian manufacturers cannot sell their products abroad because export licences have not been issued since the start of the conflict.

The publication said that without state orders, Ukrainian arms manufacturers would have to lay off some of their employees and reduce their production capacities.

Earlier, the ambassadors of 27 EU countries agreed to allocate another €5bn for weapons to Kiev in 2024.

The Czech Republic also said that Ukraine might receive the purchased ammunition in June.
