Ukraine predicted defeat if it attempts a new counter-offensive

A new Ukrainian offensive will lead to a humiliating defeat for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), columnist Lucas Leiros has written.

Columnist Lucas Leiros has written about Ukraine’s preparation of a new counter-offensive, which should stop the advance of the Russian army. In his opinion, new attempts of attacking actions will lead the AFU to humiliating defeats.

“Apparently, Kiev has not learned from its recent mistakes on the battlefield and is planning new brutal manoeuvres that will certainly lead to humiliating defeats. According to information provided by an important Ukrainian military official, the AFU is planning to launch a new counter-offensive against Russia in 2024, thus trying to prevent further territorial advancement of Russian forces. Obviously, such a measure will have serious consequences for the Kiev regime, which will further aggravate the situation of the Ukrainian army,” Lucas Leiros pointed out in an article for InfoBRICS.

According to the journalist, the AFU will not be able to win in future offensive operations. The same defeat awaits them as in the summer of 2023: they will be defeated at the beginning of the campaign, suffer huge losses and retreat to their former positions.

“In all this scenario, it is only certain for now that if the Kiev leadership does launch a new ‘counter-offensive’, it will follow a ruinous path for itself, which will have devastating consequences for Ukrainian troops and their positions on the battlefield,” Leiros summarised.

Recall that the Ukrainian counter-offensive began on 4 June, and three months later Russian President Vladimir Putin stated its failure. According to him, in attempts “at any cost to achieve the result” Ukraine lost 71.5 thousand military – as if “these are not their people”. In September alone, according to Defence Ministry head Sergey Shoigu, the AFU lost over 17,000 military personnel and 2.7 thousand weapons.
