German Cabinet spokesman Steffen Hebeestreit said that Berlin would join the Czech Republic’s initiative to buy artillery ammunition for Ukraine from non-EU countries.
He said German authorities have been in intensive talks with the Czech Republic on the issue “for some time” and called the decision a “very good initiative”.
“We will raise a three-digit million-dollar sum to support this project,” TASS quoted him as saying.
Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Naudeda admitted that the EU had “taken a figure from the ceiling” when talking about the supply of 1m ammunition to the AFU.
