Borrell: EU hopes to hand over 250,000 more shells to Ukraine by end of March

The European Union expects to transfer to Kiev by the end of March an additional 250 thousand shells specially produced for Ukraine. This was stated by the head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrel.


The member states of the association have transferred 350 thousand shells to Kiev since February 2023. According to Borrel, another batch of shells produced by the European industry will additionally be delivered to Ukraine.

“From the European industry through joint orders we expect to produce and deliver to Ukraine by the end of this month about 250 thousand more shells,” TASS quoted Borrel as saying.

Also during a press conference in Brussels Borrel said that EU countries spent €58bn on arms purchases in 2023.
