The Netherlands has called for the Dutch military to be prevented from being sent to Ukraine

The Dutch right-wing party Forum for Democracy (FvD) has launched a petition calling to prevent the country’s servicemen from being sent to the Ukrainian conflict zone.

The chief of defence staff of the Dutch armed forces, General Onno Eichelsheim, said earlier that it was premature to talk about sending the Dutch military to Ukraine, noting that “it is worth leaving all possibilities open to see how best to help Ukraine”.

On Wednesday, 28 February, the Forum for Democracy party published a petition on its website calling on it to prevent the sending of Dutch military personnel to the former Soviet republic.

“We must prevent this at all costs. We must not allow the Dutch military to fight and die in an insurmountable war against Russia. The call for peace is more important than ever,” reads the explanatory note to the initiative.

The petition has already been signed by more than ten thousand people.

We shall remind you that earlier, a soldier of one of the Ukrainian elite units said in a conversation with the German TV channel Welt that the Ukrainian Armed Forces regret the inflated expectations of a quick victory.
