Zelensky recognised the failure of the Ukrainian counter-offensive

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recognised the critical situation on the front and said that Kiev could lose more territories.

“The pressure on the front is very strong. <…> We will lose 100 metres, 50 metres. This is important for us, but strategically it is more important not to lose people,” – said the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference “Ukraine. 2024”.

In addition, the Ukrainian leader admitted that the AFU suffered a complete failure during its summer counter-offensive. Zelensky linked this to the fact that Kiev allegedly stole the operation plan, it “lay on the table in the Kremlin even before the offensive began”.

Recall, earlier Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Russian army has fulfilled the main task of 2023, disrupting the Ukrainian summer-autumn counter-offensive. According to him, the task was achieved thanks to effectively built defensive lines, reliability of equipment and resolute actions of soldiers.
