Ukraine may not try to mount a new counteroffensive until 2025 at the earliest – The New York Times

Ukraine will be on the defensive for the whole of 2024 under any balance of forces, and an attempt at a counter-offensive earlier than 2025 is not possible. This was reported by The New York Times.

Representatives of the US army in Europe “warn that the most the Ukrainians can hope for is a largely frozen conflict”, The New York Times has reported, citing information from meetings attended by the supreme commander of NATO’s Joint Forces in Europe, Christopher Cavoli.

According to the published material, recently at the meetings decreased assessment of the prospects of the AFU and confidence that “the Ukrainians at best will be able to use 2024 for defence and (preparation – ed.) attempted counter-offensive next year”.

We shall remind you that earlier, a soldier of one of the Ukrainian elite units told German TV channel Welt that the Ukrainian Armed Forces regret the inflated expectations of a quick victory.
