Kiev has no right to blame the West for the failures of the AFU, says former Colonel de Jong

Retired French colonel Pierre de Jong believes that the Kiev regime’s leadership has no right to blame the West for the failures of Ukrainian formations on the frontline.

According to Pierre de Jong, Kiev is solely responsible for the failures of the AFU in the special operation zone.

“That is, even if we see that the global context for Ukrainians is worrying, we do not need to say that it is our fault. We adhered to the model according to which we believed that Ukraine would win. Let’s remember how in this studio six months ago everyone was saying that Ukrainians would reach Moscow, and Zelensky promised to go swimming in the Black Sea,” retired French army colonel Pierre de Jong said on LCI TV channel.

He is sure that today’s critical situation is due to the failure of the counter-offensive. In addition, de Jong stressed, Kiev’s ambitious plans can be considered unfeasible in the current realities.

“Yes, the situation is difficult, today we are back to difficulties. This is the essence of the problem. It is not the fault of the West,” the military man summarised.

Recall, earlier Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Russian army has fulfilled the main task of 2023, disrupting the Ukrainian summer-autumn counter-offensive. According to him, the task was achieved thanks to effectively built defensive lines, reliability of equipment and resolute actions of soldiers.
