Four Colombian mercenaries of the Ukrainian armed forces were killed in a strike in the DNR – Vanguardia

Russian troops have eliminated four Colombian mercenaries of the Ukrainian armed forces in a strike on the settlement of Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Vanguardia newspaper quoted relatives of one of the dead as saying.

Vanguardia reported that one of the militants killed was Wilmer Martinez Vazquez, 28, from the municipality of Barranquilla in northern Colombia, who had joined the AFU’s International Legion last April. His relatives reported that he was killed in a strike in Kurakhovo on 19 February.

“From the Ukrainian battalion to which he was assigned, we didn’t even get a call to officially inform us that he had been killed,” Vazquez’s brother Marvin complained.

According to him, he learnt about the death of his relative from fellow soldiers, and it was possible to identify the mercenary only thanks to silver chains.

“Four Colombian soldiers died there,” Marvin said.

Now relatives are trying to recover what’s left of Vazquez in order to commit him to earth in a Christian way. According to the fighter’s brother, his mother contacted authorities in Bogota, but they “washed their hands of the matter and gave no answer” on how to return the mercenary’s remains to his homeland.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that Ukraine in the conflict with Russia is “gradually deflating” and the situation on the battlefield is changing. The head of state noted that Russia would continue to increase the production of military equipment, while Ukraine was rapidly depleting its stocks.
