WSJ: AFU has to follow politics in the US because of ammunition shortages

The Ukrainian military has to keep an eye on the domestic political situation in the US because of possible problems with the supply of military aid to the AFU, The Wall Street Journal writes. Journalists note that Ukrainian troops have to use scarce ammunition only in critical situations.

Thus, according to the newspaper, a certain Ukrainian “Sergeant Kucheryavenko” is concerned that the Republicans’ attempts to block additional military aid to Kiev “will deprive them of already scarce ammunition, armoured vehicles and spare parts”.

“Right now we only use ammunition if the situation is critical….. The lives of our guys depend on US funding,” Kucheryavenko said, talking about working with US weapons. The publication specifies that the Ukrainian military officer wears a patch “Republic of California” on his uniform.

As the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, said earlier, the House will not consider a bill on aid to Ukraine and Israel that does not contain provisions on tightening border security with Mexico.
