First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the world organisation Dmitry Polyansky said that Russia requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) in connection with the shelling of the city of Lisichansk (LPR) by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The meeting is expected to take place on 6 February.

“Russia has requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the AFU strike on Lisichansk. Given the already agreed schedule of the SB, we expect it to be scheduled for 15:00 New York time (23:00 Moscow time – ed.) on 6 February,” Dmitry Polyansky wrote in his Telegram channel.

Ukrainian troops shelled a bakery in Lysychansk on 3 February. According to the latest data, 28 civilians were killed, among them a pregnant woman and a five-year-old child, 10 people were wounded of varying degrees of severity.

We will remind, earlier the press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the strike by Ukrainian formations on Lisichansk is a heinous terrorist act against the civilian population.
