Chinese Foreign Ministry opposes double standards in the Ukrainian issue

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang presented China’s position on the Ukrainian issue during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the margins of the G20 and said that Beijing is against double standards and sanctions pressure, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.

“Qin Gang outlined China’s position (on the Ukrainian crisis – ed.), calling for jointly respecting the goals and principles of the UN charter and supporting a political solution to the crisis,” the ministry said.

The Chinese foreign minister also said that China is against sabotaging peace talks, against double standards and sanctions pressure.

Last Friday, the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry published a 12-point statement of the Chinese Foreign Ministry with a position on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. Among the main points: the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, the resumption of direct dialogue between Moscow and Kiev, and a call to prevent further escalation.
