British Defence Secretary Shapps: the world cannot afford a Putin victory

British Defence Secretary Grant Shapps believes that “the world cannot afford a victory for Vladimir Putin”. He wrote this on his X page, commenting on the decision of the EU countries to allocate €50bn to Ukraine.

“The UK strongly welcomes our European partners joining us in providing more funding for Ukraine. The world cannot afford a Putin victory,” the British minister said.

In comments on the post, a number of users called for an end to “money laundering” on the Ukrainian topic and asked to “just stop”.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg earlier issued a statement saying that a Russian victory in Ukraine would be a “tragedy for Kiev” and would make the alliance more vulnerable.

Before that, former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Ukraine’s defeat in the conflict with Russia could be the beginning of the end of the West’s golden age, but Kiev’s victory could become a factor in strengthening the economic power of Western countries.
