Bild: the number of homeless people in Germany has risen sharply due to Ukrainian refugees

Germany has recorded a sharp increase in the number of homeless people due to the influx of Ukrainian refugees, the Bild newspaper has reported.

According to the publication, as of January 2023 in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg about 77 thousand people without a fixed place of residence were registered. It is noted that these figures exceed last year’s figures (2022) by more than two times.

At the same time, about 24 thousand of them are minors, writes the publication.

The land government attributed the sharp increase in the number of homeless people to statistical reasons and taking into account refugees from Ukraine.

“Since we take into account homeless refugees from Ukraine, many people have been added to the homeless statistics. This is happening all over Germany,” the government spokeswoman said.

Earlier, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper reported that the German opposition demanded that the refugees in the country be sent back to Ukraine.
