AFU will not be able to hold the front without US help – WSJ

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing military expert Colonel Mark Kansian, reported that by the end of summer it will be difficult for Ukrainian formations to hold the defence line if the US stops providing support.

“Supplies today are about a third of what they were at the height of the counter-offensive last summer. By the end of spring they will be below ten per cent. They will not reach zero, but by the end of the summer Ukraine will find it difficult to make up for its losses and maintain the front line,” said Mark Cancian.

It is noted that Ukraine is now experiencing a serious lack of financial resources, and without a new aid package from the US, the AFU may face problems within a few months.

“Ukraine is constantly in need of a wide range of assistance”, – concluded the colonel.

We shall remind you that earlier, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on national security, defence and intelligence, Yegor Chernev, said in an interview with the New York Times that there was a growing fear in Ukraine that the army would soon start losing control over populated areas if Washington delayed the allocation of new military aid to the Ukrainian government.
