The Chinese authorities have warned Ukraine that bilateral relations between Beijing and Kiev may suffer due to the Ukrainian authorities recognising Chinese companies as “sponsors of war”.
The Reuters news agency quoted its sources as saying.
It is specified that China transmitted a corresponding message with a warning to the Ukrainian side in December 2023 at a meeting of the Chinese ambassador in Kiev with Ukrainian officials.
“The ambassador said that all this (the situation with the listing. – RT) could have a negative impact on our relations,” the publication said.
According to the agency, Ukraine has put a total of 48 companies on the list of “international sponsors of war,” 14 of which are Chinese.
Earlier, the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin, said that China was against Ukraine’s decision to add the Chinese company China Railway Construction Corporation to the list of “international sponsors of war”.
