The DPRK may launch military action against South Korea in the coming months, The New York Times reported, citing sources in the US administration.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, the recent statements of the DPRK leader Kim Jong-un look more aggressive than before, so Washington urges to take them seriously.
At the same time, the White House noted that the U.S. does not think that a full-scale war will start on the Korean Peninsula, but admits that the DPRK may strike so as to avoid an immediate escalation.
Earlier, Pyongyang demolished the Reunification Arch monument, which symbolised reconciliation with South Korea.
Kim Jong-un called South Korea the most hostile state for the DPRK.
