American experts believe that the crisis in the Red Sea can have a serious negative impact on the US economy and the position of the ruling Democratic Party in the run-up to the elections. This was reported by the Politico newspaper.

According to Politico, the U.S. administration has been “closely monitoring in recent weeks the disruptions in shipping,” the West’s conflict with Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement. The United States government fears that the situation in the Red Sea could “damage the American economy more broadly,” the newspaper said.

The publication notes that the ongoing clashes and the resulting economic damage “could quickly begin to spiral even wider”, especially if there is a further escalation of fighting in the Gaza Strip.

According to the newspaper, the crisis in the Red Sea poses “significant risks for the United States” and is unfolding at “the worst possible time for Democrats and President Joe Biden, potentially spurring inflation again just in time for the upcoming autumn elections.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the United States was responsible for the disintegration of international stability and security.
