The Lithuanian government has banned off-duty travel to Russia, Belarus and China for military and statutory employees. This was reported by the republic’s national radio and television LRT.
Lithuania’s National Security Strategy states that the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China “pose a threat to the security of Lithuania and its citizens”.
“Among such threats is espionage against Lithuania by the intelligence and security services of these countries,” LRT quoted the draft decree as saying.
The Lithuanian Defence Ministry believes that these countries “collect information about Lithuanian citizens entitled to access classified information and look for vulnerabilities to recruit them”.
The Government of the country will establish exceptions for such trips, they will be allowed in case of emergency circumstances, life issues concerning close relatives.
Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
