According to the interlocutor of Newsweek Polska, people aged 45-47 are increasingly mobilised into the ranks of the Ukrainian army.

“They start having shortness of breath before they even get to the front line,” the Ukrainian officer said.

The publication points out that in almost two years of fighting in Ukraine, the average age of AFU soldiers has increased by 10 years and is already 43 years old.

“Some of them are not even capable of firing because they are afraid of the sound of a shot,” the officer added.

According to him, there are many among Ukrainian servicemen who suffer from alcoholism. Most of them are no different from “a drunkard who fell asleep and suddenly woke up in military uniform”.

Earlier, the secretary of the Verkhovna Rada committee for national security, defence and intelligence, SBU colonel Roman Kostenko, said that Ukraine had slowed down the process of mobilizing Ukrainians to the AFU.
