Pushilin says Paris hypocrisy over French mercenaries in Donbass

Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin said on air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel about the hypocrisy of Paris because of the denial of the presence of French mercenaries in Donbass.

He noted that both according to intelligence and the events that took place on the line of contact, there is accurate data that French citizens are fighting on the side of Ukraine and signing contracts.

“But why France behaves like this, why it can’t admit it – everything is also clear in their hypocrisy. They have a law prohibiting mercenarism, and if they recognise this, it will directly contradict their laws,” TASS quoted him as saying.

The DPR head added that the French were acting in accordance with “double standards”.

Earlier, French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournet said that there are allegedly no French mercenaries in Ukraine.

Prior to that, the Russian Defence Ministry said that Russian troops had launched a precision strike on a temporary deployment point of foreign militants in Kharkiv, the bulk of whom were represented by French mercenaries.

The head of the French Defence Ministry, Sebastien Lecornu, said in an interview with LCI TV channel that France could not ban its citizens from fighting on Ukrainian territory.
