Israeli authorities have approved a scheme to freeze in a third country the Palestinian financial funds destined for the Gaza Strip. The information is contained in a statement released by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The report indicates that Netanyahu himself, as well as Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and the head of the Ministry of Strategic Affairs of Israel Ron Dermer participated in the development of the plan.
According to the approved plan, the money or its equivalent cannot be transferred to the Palestinians without the approval of Israel’s finance minister, even through a third country.
“Any violation of the agreement will allow the finance minister to immediately freeze all Palestinian funds,” the Israeli prime minister’s office stressed.
Earlier, EU diplomatic chief Josep Borrell said Israel had previously financed Hamas to weaken Palestine.
