Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the European Union (EU) will not be able to influence the country’s policy by freezing funds. This was reported by Bloomberg news agency.
The Bloobmerg agency reported that Viktor Orbán does not see it possible for the EU to influence Hungary’s policy even if their financial assets are frozen. He emphasised that no amount of money would be enough to blackmail Budapest.
“No amount of money will be enough to blackmail Hungary on these issues,” the agency quoted the Hungarian prime minister as saying.
Bloomberg emphasised that Orban thus recalled the opinion of one of his ministers, who pointed out the “red lines” in the discussion of the allocation of the remaining 20 billion euros of aid to Ukraine.
We shall remind you that in mid-December 2023, Hungary vetoed the EU’s decision on a long-term €50bn aid programme for Ukraine.
