The French Defence Ministry has said that 50 countries have joined together in an “artillery coalition” to supply artillery to Ukraine.
French Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced this together with the head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Rustem Umerov.
“Its goal is to supply the AFU in the short term with weapons in this key segment for defence,” the French defence ministry said in a release.
In the long term, this “coalition” is expected to help build future Ukrainian artillery through innovative and ambitious manufacturing partnerships.
In November, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said that the European Union’s plan to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with 1m ammunition was unrealistic. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitriy Kuleba explained the delay in the supply of ammunition by the sad state of the EU military industry and bureaucracy.
