US State Department head Anthony Blinken was unable to leave Davos, where the economic forum was held, because of a plane breakdown.
“U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was unable to fly home from Davos as scheduled on Wednesday due to a critical breakdown of his aircraft,” Bloomberg reported.
The Boeing 737 aircraft was found to have an oxygen leak and the board was deemed unsafe to fly.
As a result, another plane was dispatched from Brussels for Blinken, and his aides and members of the press pool will return to the U.S. on commercial flights.
Earlier, the US newspaper The New York Times reported that officials in Davos were promoting a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
Blinken himself admitted that Russia had vast resources to conduct a special operation.
