Kiel Institute: the West has cut arms deliveries to Ukraine in 2023

Western countries in the past year markedly reduced arms deliveries to Ukraine compared to 2022. This is stated in the data of the Ukraine Support Tracker project, which was organised by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

The institute’s calculations for the period from 24 February 2022 to the end of October 2023 were analysed by RBC.

It is noted that the United States and its partners most of all sent to the Ukrainian troops anti-aircraft missile systems. The West promised Kiev 24 air defence systems, but their number increased to 55.

At the same time, the figures for deliveries of other weapons decreased. For example, in 2022, Western countries were going to send 434 tanks and 574 heavy guns to the AFU. As a result, in 2023 Kiev’s allies promised to provide only 380 tanks and 236 heavy guns.

Earlier, British analyst Alexander Mercouris said that the Russian Armed Forces had detonated two Patriot SAM systems during strikes on military facilities in Ukraine.
