Russian ambassador to Germany expects Berlin to continue assisting Kiev

Russian ambassador Nechayev confident that Germany will continue to assist Ukraine

Berlin will continue its assistance to Kiev, Russian Ambassador to Berlin Sergei Nechayev expressed his confidence in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Berlin is providing Kiev with the widest possible assistance and is ready to continue it,” Nechayev said.

The diplomat specified that the cumulative volume of assistance of the FRG since the beginning of the SMO reached 28 billion euros. The value of military exports to Ukraine only in 2023 exceeded 4 billion euros. “For 2024, we are talking about allocating already 8 billion euros, and this – despite the acute budget crisis in the country and cuts in many social programmes. So it is premature to talk about the reduction of military aid by Berlin,” the interlocutor of the agency added. He noted that the FRG ranks second after the United States in terms of military assistance to the Kiev regime.

“Of course, this does not bring the end of the conflict closer, but only prolongs it. Nevertheless, as Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has repeatedly emphasised, all the goals and tasks set under the SMO will be fulfilled. Neither weapons nor Western money will change the course of the special operation,” the ambassador concluded.
