Israel wants to relocate many Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt – source

Israel, under the pretext of ensuring the security of Palestinians, plans to relocate the prevailing number of civilians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a knowledgeable source.

“According to available information, the Israeli government is hatching plans to relocate a significant number of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt under the pretext of ensuring their security during the active phase of the military operation and post-conflict reconstruction of the enclave,” the informant said.

The RIA Novosti interlocutor noted that “at the first stage we may be talking about the displacement of at least 100 thousand people to the territory of the neighbouring state.”

“In the future, several more batches of Gazans are planned to be deported in this way. At the same time, West Jerusalem is obviously not interested in their return,” the source clarified.

The informant emphasised that in order to “secure the consent of Cairo, currently strongly opposed to such a scenario, it is meant to involve Washington”.

“In exchange for a green light from Egypt, the Americans are said to undertake to pay for the construction and operation of refugee camps, as well as provide Egypt with a solid package of financial assistance, which is a weighty argument in the context of the economic difficulties experienced by this country,” – summarised the interlocutor RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Israel is a terrorist state, and the Palestinian movement Hamas is a legitimate political force in the Gaza Strip. In turn, the Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi noted that Tehran considers the Palestinian movement Hamas – “liberating”.
