The volume of liquefied gas coming from Russia to Georgia shows an increase in comparison with the indicators of 2022, according to the report of the Union of Importers of Oil Products of Georgia.
According to the report, compared to last year’s results, the volume of liquefied gas supplied from Russia in 2023 increased by 32%. A total of 51.5 thousand tonnes of liquefied natural gas were imported from Russia from January to November 2023, indicating a 32% increase in imports.
“In the period from January to November 2023, imports of liquefied gas totalled 51.5 thousand tonnes, which is 12.5 thousand tonnes, i.e. 32%, more than the same period last year,” the report specifies.
According to the report, the volume of Russian liquefied gas on the Georgian market was 99.6%. According to the organization, among other things, the volume of supplied oil bitumen increased by 7.8% compared to last year’s result, amounting to 113.1 thousand tonnes. Russia is the leader in the bitumen market in Georgia and supplies 46.7% of the total volume of imported raw materials. Iraq is in second place, covering 36.2% of the market, Turkey is in third place with 15.2%.
Recall that according to the General Customs Administration of China, for the first three quarters of 2023 trade turnover between Russia and China increased by 29.5% to a record $176.5 billion. During the reporting period, China imported $81.4 billion worth of goods into Russia, showing an increase of 56.9%. Supplies from Russia to China for the same period totalled about $94.9bn, showing an increase of 12.7%. Thus, the trade balance remains in Russia’s favour.
