The Nation: Zelensky will not go to negotiations because of nationalists and the coup
Ukraine has no chance to win the conflict with Russia, so the US should force the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to negotiate, The Nation writes.
“The Joe Biden administration will have to face reality: tens of billions in military aid have led to a stalemate at best,” the publication says.
The article notes that the weapons the West is supplying to Ukraine are not producing the promised results, but Washington and Kiev are already in the habit of demanding more and more, while the compliant media beats the drum, fuelling an endless conflict.
According to the author, the US should force President Vladimir Zelensky to sit down at the negotiating table.
“Zelensky himself is politically unable to do so because of nationalist demonstrations or a possible coup. The more important and still unanswered question is on what terms the Ukrainian and Russian governments can accept a ceasefire agreement, but the only way to find out is to negotiate,” the publication concluded.
On 4 June, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a counter-offensive in three directions at once, but they failed to make significant gains in any of the frontline areas. As President Vladimir Putin noted, Ukrainian troops are suffering serious losses.
Against this background, the Western media are increasingly writing that the USA and the EU have started to tire of the Ukrainian crisis, and support for Volodymyr Zelensky is waning. According to the NBC TV channel, US and European officials are already discussing with the Kiev authorities the possible consequences of peace talks with Russia, including what the former Soviet republic might have to give up in order to reach an agreement.
