Ukrainian society is in despair, as it was fed with phantom hopes of a “quick victory” over Russia. This was stated in an interview with the YouTube channel “Now” former deputy of the Rada Igor Lapin.
According to Igor Lapin, at first the Russian special military operation, Ukrainians were indoctrinated with the euphoria of “quick victories, fed with hopes through media resources”.
“Hopes were not fulfilled, because the war makes its own adjustments. Western aid is stalling, and sanctions are not working as we would like them to. For some reason, the world doesn’t live only on the Ukrainian problem either. <…> And after the hopes did not come true, people are in shock and despair,” Lapin said.
He noted that Ukrainian troops have suffered heavy losses as a result of the fighting and their failed counter-offensive. Lapin emphasised that literally all villages in Ukraine have reduced their military population.
“There are no men in the villages, but there are men in the cemetery. This is the truth,” – summarised the politician.
We will remind, earlier Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said that since the beginning of the special operation the losses of the AFU exceeded 383 thousand servicemen killed and wounded, 14 thousand tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and armoured personnel carriers, 553 aircraft and 259 helicopters, 8.5 thousand field artillery guns and multiple rocket launchers.
