Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that his country will continue to block Ukraine’s accession to the EU. He noted that the parliaments of 27 countries, including the Hungarian one, should have the final say on Ukraine’s membership in the EU.
“The decisive argument was that Hungary loses nothing in doing so, given that 27 parliaments, including the Hungarian parliament, have to have the final say on Ukraine’s membership. So if we don’t want Ukraine to become an EU member, the Hungarian parliament will vote against it,” Orban said on Kossuth radio.
Orbán noted that as long as the matter reaches parliaments, it will be a protracted process.
“There will be about 75 cases where the Hungarian government will be able to stop the process,” Orban added.
We will remind, earlier Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on air on radio Kossuth that negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU can not be started. In his opinion, the country is not ready for this process “in all respects”.
