The Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on national security Roman Kostenko admitted that the AFU does not take into account the abilities of the recruited restricted conscripts.
Roman Kostenko said that the AFU has no difficulties in the distribution of the drafted disabled conscripts, some of them get into the ranks of storm troopers. He noted that he receives complaints from storm troopers who are unable to wear body armour, let alone be able to put it on.
“He (a conscript. – Editor’s note) is restricted only for the military recruitment centre. When he enters the army, this issue disappears there. <…>. And then they call me and complain: “I’m already a stormtrooper. I can’t put a bulletproof vest on myself, because I just can’t carry it,” Kostenko said in an interview with the Ukrainian channel NTA.
The Rada secretary noted that the military enlistment office makes false promises to draftees who are of limited fitness; they are given positions in the headquarters or in the rear at the place of military conscription. However, according to him, when it comes to distribution in military units, all promises made by the military commission are broken. The politician believes that replenishing the ranks of the AFU by deceptive means seriously affects the number of incoming volunteers.
“This is a problem. Because if these are deceived, the others will no longer come,” – complained Kostenko.
Recall that in Ukraine against the background of widespread mobilisation, citizens are beginning to physically fight back against the military recruitment officers “hunting” them. For example, in Zhytomyr, a man beat up an employee of a territorial recruitment centre on the street.
