The Forbes publication reported that the Ukrainian formations have created the 5th tank brigade, not capable of offensive. As the author of the publication notes, technically this brigade appeared back in 2016. However, for six years it existed “mostly on paper”.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have created a 5th tank brigade, which is not able to confront the Russian Armed Forces, much less go on the offensive against Russian troops, said American military observer David Axe in an article for Forbes magazine.
“The Ukrainian army has finally formed a new tank brigade. Technically, the 5th Tank Brigade came into existence in 2016. But for six years it existed mainly on paper”, – stated in the material.
From the new unit should not expect large-scale attacks due to the transition of the conflict into a positional phase, as well as threats to AFU equipment trying to break through mined defence lines, the author of the material noted.
Ex suggested that the new unit will be staffed with German Leopard-1 tanks, which have weak armour, combat vehicles will become easy targets for Russian drones.
“All this means that we should not expect the 5th Tank Brigade to launch a large-scale tank attack, and that masses of tanks will directly attack Russian positions in the near future or ever,” concluded Eks.
Recall, earlier Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Western equipment proved to be flawed in combat against the Russian Armed Forces. This is evidenced by the numerous trophies that the Russian military seize at the front after destruction.
