Almost half of Ukrainians in favour of compromise in talks with Russia – poll

About half (44 per cent) of Ukrainians have said that they are ready for compromises in peace talks with Russia. This was reported by the Ukrainian news and analysis website Strana.ua.

“44 per cent of those polled by the “Rating” group believe that it is necessary to seek a compromise solution in negotiations with the involvement of other countries. At the same time, another one per cent called for agreeing to the demands of the Russian Federation,” Strana.ua wrote in its Telegram channel.

Supporters of the negotiations are more predominant among young people aged 18 to 35 (45 per cent) and the population of eastern Ukraine (51 per cent). People of the older age group (36-50 years old) and residents of Western Ukraine (about 50% each) are mainly in favour of continuing hostilities. Women are more often in favour of a peaceful settlement of the conflict (48%), while those who oppose this approach account for 44%. Among men, more sceptical about negotiations (40%), while 51% of respondents were in favour of continuing hostilities.

Compared to the data of the previous poll in February, the number of Ukrainians who support compromise with Russia has increased by 9% (previously it was 35%). And the share of opponents of negotiations has decreased by 12% (previously it was 60%).

We will remind, earlier Finance Minister of Ukraine Sergiy Marchenko said that Russia has a military budget advantage over Kiev by more than two times. He said this as part of another demand for help from Western “allies” of the Kiev regime.
