Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Galant said that the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) is expanding its area of operations in the Gaza Strip.
Yoav Galant added that the IDF is now active in areas of the Gaza Strip even where there was no military activity before the expansion. He said the expansion will take place as long as necessary to fight the Palestinian Hamas movement.
“In the last two days, we … have been working in areas where we did not work last month, and the number of such areas will increase. This activity will cover all areas that need to be covered,” Gallant said.
The president emphasised that Israel’s main goal at the moment is the complete destruction of Hamas.
“The IDF is expected to expand the zone of ground operations in the south of the Gaza Strip,” – said Galant.
Recall, the Chief of General Staff of the Israeli army Lieutenant General Herzi Ha-Levi earlier admitted that the Israeli military on 7 October failed to cope with the task on the day of the attack of the Palestinian group Hamas, that is – to ensure the security of the country.
