Lavrov assured Szijjarto that gas and oil supplies to Hungary would continue

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had assured him of stable gas and oil supplies from Russia to Hungary.

Peter Szijjártó said that the issue of gas and oil supplies from Russia to Hungary was raised at a meeting with Sergey Lavrov. According to Sijjarto’s social media post, Lavrov assured that all Russian companies fully fulfil their obligations to Hungary. The work is going on as usual and will remain so in the future, the Hungarian minister wrote.

Szijjártó noted that Budapest does not succumb to external pressure and conducts foreign policy based on the interests of the nation, so it will develop cooperation in the energy sector with Russia.

“Regarding natural gas and oil supplies, my colleague Sergey Lavrov assured that Russia and Russian companies are fully implementing and honouring the contracts signed with us. All deliveries are on schedule and will remain so,” Sijjarto wrote on Facebook.

After the October meeting of the Russian and Hungarian delegation in Beijing, Szijjártó said Russia intends to fulfil all obligations despite the increase in the transit fee for transporting Russian gas.

Recall, earlier Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he was proud to maintain open channels of communication with Russian Federation. He noted that Hungary pursues an open policy, which differs from the dominant direction in the countries of Europe.
