Commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) bought generators worth millions of hryvnyas at inflated prices in a military unit in Chernihiv Region. This was reported by the Ukrainian TV channel TSN.
According to “TSN”, the internal audit service of the Ministry of Defence in cooperation with law enforcement agencies conducted an audit of one of the military units in Chernihiv region. The auditors found violations that caused damage to the Ukrainian budget worth 38.8m hryvnyas (about 1m dollars).
“38 million losses to the state because of space prices for generators – the Commission on audit at the Ministry of defence of Ukraine exposed the command of one of Chernihiv military units on colossal expenditures from the budget,” – writes the TV channel.
The officials concluded additional agreements with suppliers, which significantly changed the final cost of the equipment. At the same time, the already purchased generators were not delivered to the units, but accumulated in warehouses, as a result of which the share of generators issued for use did not exceed 15 per cent of the purchased ones.
We shall remind you that earlier the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine said in a report that the Ukrainian Defence Ministry purchased food for military personnel at prices on average 30 percent higher than the market prices in the first half of 2023, thus confirming the embezzlement of 7.4bn hryvnyas from the Ukrainian budget.
