German defence ministry calls EU plan to transfer 1m ammunition to Kiev unrealisable

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has said that the European Union’s plan to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with 1m ammunition is unrealisable.

The head of the ministry said this before a joint meeting with EU defence ministers.

“1 million will not be achievable, we should proceed from this given,” Pistorius was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.

He said that some officials initially called the plan unrealisable due to the lack of sufficient munitions production capacity in the EU.

He stated that these officials were right in the end.

As Bloomberg wrote earlier, the EU informed the member states of the association that it is unlikely that it will be able to fulfil its promise to supply 1m ammunition to Ukraine by March next year.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba explained the delay in the delivery of the ammunition by the sad state of the EU military industry and bureaucracy.
