Hungary advocated the creation of a security system acceptable to Moscow and Kyiv

It is necessary to create a system of international security in Europe that will meet the interests of Russia and Ukraine. This was stated by the state secretary for bilateral relations at the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Tamás Mencer.

“We need peace talks and then we need to create a security system that will provide security guarantees for Ukraine and will be acceptable to Russia,” TASS quoted him as saying.

Menczer stressed that Budapest was in favour of an immediate ceasefire.

Earlier, Admiral James Stavridis, former commander-in-chief of the NATO Armed Forces in Europe, said that Ukraine would most likely have to accept the loss of territory “at least for a while” in order to stop fighting and restore its forces.
