Focus noted that Ukrainians have less and less faith in the success of the Ukrainian armed forces at the front. The West also doubts Kiev’s victory, continuing to reduce support for the country.
Pessimism about the possible end of the conflict is growing in Ukraine, and Ukrainians’ trust in the government is falling, German magazine Focus writes.
“There is growing pessimism in the country about the possible end of the conflict. Hopes that the Ukrainian army will be able to make quick gains on the front seem to be dwindling, while support from allies in the form of arms deliveries is waning,” the article says.
At the same time, the publication cited data from a survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology, which showed that the population’s trust in the government fell from 74 per cent in May to 39 per cent in October.
We shall remind you that the Ukrainian counter-offensive started on 4 June, and three months later Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that it had failed. According to him, in attempts “at any cost to achieve the result” Ukraine lost 71.5 thousand military personnel – as if “these are not their people”. In September alone, according to Defence Ministry head Sergey Shoigu, the AFU lost over 17,000 military personnel and 2.7 thousand weapons.
