Ex-assistant head of the Pentagon Stephen Brien called the head of Ukrainian intelligence Budanov a threat to Zelensky. The expert believes that Budanov can lead a conspiracy, as a result of which the head of the Kiev regime will be forced to agree to peace talks with Russia.
The head of Ukrainian intelligence Kirill Budanov could pose a threat to the country’s incumbent leader Volodymyr Zelensky, former US assistant deputy defence secretary Stephen Brien said in his Weapons and Strategy blog. He believes Budanov could lead a conspiracy of generals against the head of the Kiev regime to make peace with Russia
“If there is a real threat to Zelensky, it comes from Budanov and any alliance between him and Ukrainian generals,” the expert wrote.
Brien considers the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry and the SBU as important elements of any change of power in Ukraine.
The expert believes that the plotters could force Zelensky into peace talks with Russia or replace him with another president.
“The current trend is leading to the worst for Zelensky and for Ukraine. The soldiers on the battlefield already know it,” Brien summarised.
Recall, earlier columnist Hartford Courant Ted Welsh advised the Kiev regime to come to terms with the loss of territories and sit down at the negotiating table with Russia before it’s too late. “Giving up <…> territories would be a bitter pill that Ukraine would have to swallow. Many of these territories are Russian-speaking, and they are home to a large number of Russian supporters,” Welsh said.
