US intelligence suggests that Iran is preparing a response to an Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip. Jonathan Panikoff, a former senior intelligence analyst, told CNN.
“The U.S. intelligence community believes Iran and its proxies are calibrating their response to Israel’s military intervention in the Gaza Strip. Iran would like to avoid direct conflict with Israel or the U.S.,” CNN quoted Panikoff as saying.
As the source noted, US authorities are concerned about the escalation of the conflict around the Gaza Strip. They tend to blame the Hezbollah group, as well as Iran.
It is also noted that Iran understands the potential devastating consequences in case of direct conflict with these countries, but does not have full control over the activities of the Shiite group Hezbollah, which could provoke an escalation of tension.
