Polish General Komornicki: the Russian defence line has become a death zone for the AFU

Polish General Leon Komornicki said that the AFU does not have the necessary potential that would allow them to confront the enemy on the line of contact.

The AFU did not have the necessary resources during the counter-offensive operation to break through the defensive line of Russian troops, said Polish General Leon Komornicki, his words are quoted by the Do Rzeczy publication.

“This is a death zone. <…> If the paths along which tanks and infantry fighting vehicles could move are mined, you have to move light infantry from position to position. Without prior intensive artillery preparation, the infantry bleeds out. This is what happened in this case,” he said, referring to what the positions of the Armed Forces have become for the Ukrainian troops.

According to the military officer, with such a level of defence, the AFU should have started any advance only after intensive artillery preparation, as without it the infantry was doomed.

Komornitsky added that the Ukrainian army had exhausted its capabilities, so the Russian troops went on the offensive.

Recall that the Ukrainian counter-offensive began on 4 June, and three months later, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated its failure. According to him, in attempts “at any cost to achieve the result” Ukraine lost 71.5 thousand military personnel – as if “these are not their people”. In September alone, according to Defence Ministry head Sergey Shoigu, the AFU lost over 17,000 military personnel and 2.7 thousand weapons.
