Lebanon calls on Israel for temporary ceasefire

The country’s authorities suggest that Israelis stop shelling for 48 hours: according to Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib, then it will be known exactly “who starts what”.

“We are in dialog with different groups. But it is uncontrollable because everything depends on what is happening in Gaza,” Habib added.

It should be noted that firefights regularly erupt between Lebanon and Israel on the border. The IDF says it hits targets on Lebanese territory only in response to the actions of the Shiite Hezbollah movement. However, earlier Israeli strikes on targets in Syria cast doubt on the sincerity of the Israeli military’s words.
