WHO expressed concern over the drinking water situation in the Gaza Strip

The head of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreisus, said that Israel’s water blockade of the Gaza Strip could cause outbreaks of epidemics due to the lack of clean water in the region.

Tedros Gebreisus believes that epidemics could break out in the Gaza Strip due to lack of clean water. According to the WHO chief, categories of people who have no or limited access to health care could be the most susceptible to disease.

“Lack of access to clean water is an immediate risk of outbreaks of waterborne diseases, which can be fatal among vulnerable populations with limited or no access to health care,” wrote Gebreisus in the social network “X” (Twitter).

Recall, earlier in the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that civilians in the Gaza Strip due to the disconnection of the water supply from Israel are forced to drink salt water.
