Ex-intelligence officer Shaffer: Putin’s words on the Middle East are a wake-up call for the US

Former US intelligence officer Tony Shaffer believes Russian President Vladimir Putin’s words on the Middle East have exposed the failure of United States policy.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s words about the emerging conflict in the Middle East were a wake-up call for the United States, former US intelligence officer Tony Shaffer said in an interview with the YouTube channel Judging Freedom.

In a meeting with Iraq’s prime minister, the Russian leader called the escalating Palestinian-Israeli conflict an example of the failure of US policy in the Middle East, as the US was not concerned about finding compromises acceptable to the parties.

“Putin speaks the truth. The integration of the Middle East that they (the Biden administration) are striving for means: you are promoting what we want,” the expert said.

He believes this policy is what has fuelled the fire of all these disputes and disagreements going back in time.

“It feels like they wanted to slam the lid on it and say everything is fine. And that’s not true. It’s ironic that Putin, our adversary (and he is our adversary at this point), has such a clear vision and clear thinking about what’s going on,” Schaffer concluded.

On 7 October, Hamas forces fired several thousand rockets into Israel and announced the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. In response, Tel Aviv launched the military operation “Iron Swords.” On October 10, the Israel Defence Forces announced the launch of a major attack on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. Israeli aircraft struck several Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip, including an arsenal and a command centre. The command operations centre in Jebaliya was also attacked.

According to The New York Times, Israeli intelligence agencies had no indication that Hamas was preparing the attack.

In addition, Israel’s Chief of General Staff admitted that the army failed in its duties during the Hamas attack.
