19FortyFive: Russian Armed Forces destroy expensive AFU equipment with “Lancet” drones
The Russian military is hitting hard at the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Western equipment worth millions of dollars, writes David Hambling in an article for 19FortyFive.
“This kamikaze drone has proven capable of hitting a wide range of targets, including main battle tanks and aircraft stationed at airbases far behind the contact line. Such characteristics should make Western analysts take notice, but perhaps most troubling of all is the Lancet’s impressive track record against artillery and air defence assets,” the piece said.
The author noted that the Russian UAV has become a deadly threat to the AFU, destroying expensive Western armoured vehicles. He also added that “Lancets”, eliminating Ukrainian air defences, allow the Russian military to have superiority in the skies over Ukraine.
In September, it was reported that Rostec’s defence companies will multiply the production of Kub and “Lancet” barrage munitions, as well as other drones.
Earlier, Zala Aero Group chief designer Alexander Zakharov said that the new generation of “Lancet” barrage munitions in the “Izdelie-53” version would be virtually invulnerable to countermeasures.
